9,99€
The ‘Ad Libitum’ album contains improvised instrumental music rich in piano sound.
This story began when […], surrounded by a nature, I started to compose a new episode of my life. […] At those times music flowed through my fingers like time through the clock hands. All the tracks I share with you were created at a crucial moment of my life. […] However, one of them released all the rest.
Each melody tells a story about particular person, place or moment. Each song is unique. Most importantly, the shape of all the melodies is the result of my feelings, emotions and thoughts captured and recorded on the fly.
Please sit down, take a breath and relax as I am taking you in a common musical journey.
I believe you will discover something valuable here.

Description
Ad Libitum — improvised piano album by Peter Universe (Cichocki Music)
Ad Libitum album is a collection of improvised, instrumental piano pieces by Peter Universe. The music was recorded live and shaped in the moment. Every track keeps the breath of the room, the touch of the keys, and the story behind it. Therefore, you hear not only notes but also time passing — as if it flowed through the hands of a clock.
How the album began
The idea started in Kaszuby, Poland. Peter stayed for months in a quiet house by a lake in a landscape park, far from city noise. There, surrounded by nature, he set up microphones, pressed record, and played. No scores. No edits unless needed. Instead, he composed in real time. As a result, the archive grew quickly and honestly.
During this period, Ana Voyt created single covers for each recording. Each cover worked like a visual diary page. Later, Peter listened back and selected a group of pieces that felt complete together. Those choices became the Ad Libitum album, and the final album artwork took shape from the same visual line.
After finishing the sessions and a period of near solitude, Peter moved to Spain. First to Barcelona, and then to the Alicante area. The change of light and pace influenced future releases, yet this album keeps the stillness and clarity of the lake house where it was born.
What you will hear
Improvised instrumental music rich in piano sound.
Theme and variations: a motif returns in new registers and rhythms.
Natural dynamics: minimal compression, audible room tone, and space.
Melodies with memory: each track points to a person, a place, or a moment.
Most importantly, the shape of every melody comes from feelings captured on the fly. One idea often opens the door for another; however, each piece stands on its own. Therefore, you can listen straight through or track by track.
Mood and use
This music invites you to sit down, take a breath, and relax. It works for reading, deep focus, and late evenings. It also supports reflection and gentle movement. Because the recording is live, it stays human and warm. You can feel the touch and the small pauses that carry meaning.

Why “Ad Libitum”?
“Ad libitum” means “at one’s pleasure” or “as you wish.” Peter uses it to describe his method: press record, follow the idea, and let the structure appear naturally. Consequently, the album carries the freedom of improvisation and the focus of composition. The result is simple: real time becomes music.

Who is Peter Universe?
Peter Universe is a pianist and composer who creates improvised neo-classical piano with cinematic color. His releases appear under Cichocki Music, a label and legacy hub for solo albums and projects. He writes and records in real time, often in quiet spaces, and sometimes at 432Hz for a softer tonal shade. However, the center is always the same: melody, room, and story.
How to start listening
If you’re new here, begin with track one and let the album run. Alternatively, pick any title and press play. Because the pieces are born live, they flow easily. Soon you will notice patterns that connect them. After that, visit Complete Works to see how this approach grew into other releases.

Gratitude
– for all the effort put into finish the AD LIBITUM – piano album . . .
Thank you to my Soul for:
inspiration to play all the melodies collected on this album, unblocking my fingers and a new look at the music. Without her I wouldn’t have played a single sound and the album would have been filled by silence.
I would like to thank Ana V. Wojtanowska for: design and realization of the cover and photos. And most of all, for believing in me despite the difficulties during the finalization of this piano album; for the support in good and difficult life moments and for the driving force at the whole stage of creating it.
